A Day is Coming
“So God raised Him to the highest place. God made His name greater than every other name so that every knee will bow to the name of Jesus—everyone in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. And everyone will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and bring glory to God the Father.”- Philippians 2:9-11
A day is coming when everyone will bow down to Jesus and confess Him as Lord. This honor did not come without a price. Jesus came to earth as a humble servant, obeying God, and did not come to seek a name for Himself. As a result, God exalted Him and gave Him a name above all other names. Since Jesus humbled Himself and bent His knees in service to others, God declared every knee will bow down to Him.
As Christians, we can learn from our Savior by not exalting ourselves and being humble servants to others so God may exalt us too. God exalted Jesus by raising Him from the dead and now is seated at God’s right-side ruling over angels, authorities, and powers in heaven (1 Peter 3:22). God was satisfied with the redemptive work of Christ and determined that every being in heaven, on earth, and under the earth should bow to Him.
Jesus’ redemptive work also brings glory to God. God planned to save humans before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:3-5). It was His plan to illustrate how gracious He is. We can do the same for Him by doing what He commands us to do, while waiting for the day when Jesus comes back. On that day everyone will honor God by bowing and confessing Jesus as Lord of all.
Prayer of the day:
Dear heavenly Father,
One day everyone will bow and confess Jesus as Lord. It will happen to bring You glory for all You have done. All the honor belongs to Jesus because He was a humble servant who was obedient unto death. Please help us to be like Him to show that we are humble servants like Him. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen!
