Are You a Representative of Christ?

Are You a Representative of Christ?
“The eleven followers went to Galilee to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. On the mountain they saw Jesus and worshiped him, but some of them did not believe it was really Jesus. Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All power in heaven and on earth is given to me. So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything that I have taught you, and I will be with you always, even until the end of this age.’” – Matthew 28:16-20

Did you know that Jesus gave people the command to go out and make disciples in the world? When someone does then they are considered a representative of Christ. A representative of Christ does what Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19-20. It is a Christian’s mission to tell others what the Bible says about Him. When they hear the good news about Jesus that He came to save people from their sins, God can start working in their hearts and open their minds to understand the truth about Jesus. As their minds are opened to understand the truth about Jesus and believe, they are required to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

After conversion, a Christian is required by Jesus to share their hope of the faith they have because of what God did for them. God allowed Jesus to suffer and die for their sins. Also, God desires that no one be lost, but all to come to repentance and be saved (2 Peter 3:9). As a result, we can share what the gospel teaches, tell others what God has done for us, and how He has changed our way of living to be righteous and holy. It is all possible by Jesus’ death and resurrection.

It is important to share with others the hope that we have so they will know the truth and believe. Unfortunately, not all who listen to our testimony and hear about our hope in Jesus will want to be His disciple. But God still tells us to since it is one way that God can use us in His plan to save people from the consequence of sin which is death and separation from Him. God used Paul in Acts 16:14 to tell Lydia about the gospel. "As she listened to Paul, the Lord opened her heart, and she accepted what Paul was saying." Are you like Paul, a representative of Christ willing to go out and tell others what God did for you?

Prayer for the day:

Dear heavenly Father,

Give us the words to say when we go out and tell others about Jesus and what He did for us. We need Him so we will not be separated from You. You gave us the commission to tell others about Jesus since He is the only way for us to be with You forever in heaven. Help us not to be scared to share with others our hope in Jesus. In His name we pray, Amen!
