Are You Ready for Jesus’ Return?

“No one knows when that day or time will be, not the angels in heaven, not even the Son. Only the Father knows. When the Son of Man comes, it will be like what happened during Noah’s time. In those days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying, and giving their children to be married, until the day Noah entered the boat. They knew nothing about what was happening until the flood came and destroyed them. It will be the same when the Son of Man comes. Two men will be in the field. One will be taken, and the other will be left. Two women will be grinding grain with a mill. One will be taken, and the other will be left. -Matthew 24:36-41

Jesus is coming back to earth someday; nobody knows when it will be. Will you be ready? It will be a great day for His people because when He returns, He will take His people to heaven with Him. No one knows the date or time except for God. God is keeping Jesus’ return a secret and not even Jesus or the angels know the day. We could be doing everyday activities like ironing, washing the car, or walking the dog. No matter what we are doing we have to be ready.

God is warning us to be ready. We need to take His warning seriously because it might be too late and miss our last chance to change and go to heaven. We should not be tempted to make big plans or set dates because our plans could change if God decides to send Jesus back.

Like Noah’s day God warned the people about the great flood, but no one took it seriously. They still lived as if they were flood-proof, eating, drinking, and getting married. When the flood came, they were not ready, and everyone died except for Noah and his family (1 Peter 3:20). That is just the way it will be like when Jesus comes back.

It will be an unfortunate day for people who are not Jesus’ followers. The non-believers will be left behind to be judged by God and condemned to hell. His followers will be taken to heaven to worship Jesus forever and ever, Amen! Will you be ready?

Prayer of the day:

Dear heavenly Father,

We cannot wait for the day when we will be reunited with our savior, Jesus. It seems like a long time, but we know it could any day. Help us to be prepared for Jesus’ coming. Help us to turn from our sin and live a life that is holy. We pray for others today who struggle with sin and that You will help them to change before it is too late. When Jesus’ returns, there will be no second chances. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
