God’s Power Made Perfect in Our Weaknesses
“But He said to me, ‘My grace is enough for you. When you are weak, my power is made perfect in you.’ So, I am very happy to brag about my weaknesses. Then Christ’s power can live in me.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9
We all suffer some type of weakness. It could be alcohol, social media, overeating, or cancer. For Paul it was suffering from some type of painful physical issue. He pleaded to God three times for Him to remove the problem, but God answered in a way that he did not hope for (2 Corinthians 12:8). God told Paul that He would not remove the physical issue but would do something better, give Paul grace to bear it.
God gave Paul not what he wanted but what was best for him. God does the same for us. God lets us experience weaknesses because it is best for us too. He uses our weaknesses to keep us humble, help us to lean on Him for strength and not on ourselves and to help build our trust in Him.
Like Paul, God’s grace is sufficient in our weaknesses. We have to learn to be content with God’s decisions no matter how He answers. Paul was completely satisfied with God’s answer and said to God, “For this reason I am happy when I have weaknesses, insults, hard times, sufferings, and all kinds of troubles for Christ. Because when I am weak, then I am truly strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10).
Paul viewed his weakness as a blessing and was glad to experience it for Jesus. He knew God had a plan and a purpose for it.
Prayer of the day:
Dear heavenly Father,
We all suffer from some type of weakness. In our weakness You are working Your power in them. We do not always understand why but pray that You will help us get through the situation. Please help us to be like Paul and accept Your decision because You are our loving heavenly Father that knows best. Our weaknesses can be a blessing more than a negative thing. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
