How Big is God’s Grace?
“Let us, then, feel very sure that we can come before God’s throne where there is grace. There we can receive mercy and grace to help us when we need it.”-Hebrews 4:16
God is very merciful and full of grace. He is so full of grace that we cannot truly comprehend it until we have experienced it in our own life. Adam was the first human to experience God’s grace. God showed Adam grace by not putting him to death after eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God warned Adam if he ate fruit from the tree, he would certainly die (Genesis 2:16-17).
Instead of putting Adam to death, God showed him grace. God showed him grace by making clothes for him and his wife and dressed them (Genesis 3:21). How full of grace is God that He would do that, even after Adam sinned against God? He does the same for us. God clothes us in the righteousness of Jesus’ blood. We also deserve death like Adam because the payment for sin is death (Romans 6:23). But God showed His great grace by saving us and giving us a free gift of salvation in heaven with Him because of Jesus' obedience on the cross (Romans 5:8).
Here are some other Bible verses to turn to as reminders of God’s amazing grace:
“But God’s mercy is great, and He loved us very much. Though we were spiritually dead because of the things we did against God, He gave us new life with Christ. You have been saved by God’s grace.”- Ephesians 2:4-5
“But He said to me, ‘My grace is enough for you. When you are weak, My power is made perfect in you.’ So, I am very happy to brag about my weaknesses. Then Christ’s power can live in me.”- 2 Corinthians 12:9
“But God gives us even more grace, as the Scripture says, ‘God is against the proud, but He gives grace to the humble.’” – James 4:6
Prayer of the day:
Dear heavenly Father,
Your grace exceeds our understanding. We can see Your grace in our daily lives, especially when You allow us to wake up and give us a new day. Thank you for showing Your gift of grace through Jesus’ blood. It is only by Your grace that we are saved and being saved shows how merciful You really are. All praise, glory and honor belong to You! In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
