How Christians Live Their Lives Matters
“So brothers and sisters, since God has shown us great mercy, I beg you to offer your lives as a living sacrifice to him. Your offering must be only for God and pleasing to him, which is the spiritual way for you to worship. Do not be shaped by this world; instead, be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.” – Romans 12:1-2

When someone becomes a Christian, their life changes. As a new Christian the person cannot live the way they used to. The new life that God gives a new believer is supposed to change their way of living. They cannot do the things they used to do since by God’s grace and mercy, He provides them with a new way of living. Before Paul was converted to a believer, he was persecuting Christians by putting them in jail (Acts 8:3). His life changed when he encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:3-20). After that he served God for the rest of his life.

As God changes us after our conversion, we will live differently as Paul did. We will start doing what pleases God. We should not do what the world does but what the Holy Spirit tells us and guides us to do. We can live a life that pleases God with the Holy Spirit’s help. With His help, we will be able to use our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God. We can use our bodies to serve God by living our life in obedience to Him. Our actions can show others how great God’s mercy is and how it is extended to all people.

God’s mercy is also shown by His plan to save people by the obedience and death of Jesus, His Son. If Jesus died for Christians, then at least we can live our lives differently than the world. Also, we should sin less and desire to live according to what the Scriptures teach. Knowing the Scriptures helps us to know what God desires for our lives. As a result, a Christian can live a life that matters to God.

Prayer of the day:

Dear heavenly Father,

Please help us to live a life that is pleasing to You. We want to because Jesus lived a life that mattered since His life was used to save people from their sins. Sin used to rule in our lives but with Your Holy Spirit’s help and the sacrifice of Jesus, we can live a life in obedience to Your will. This is all possible because of You. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
