How Valuable are You?
“Then God said, ‘Let us make human beings in our image and likeness. And let them rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the tame animals, over all the earth, and over all the small crawling animals on the earth.’ So God created human beings in His image. In the image of God, He created them. He created them male and female.” - Genesis 1:26-27
Being created in the image of God is special for humans even if someone believes in Him or not. All humans were created in His image and are to represent Him. We can do this by how we act and treat others. What we do shows people that we belong to God. As a result, it will cause people to praise God. We are valuable to God when what we do brings Him glory.
We are valuable to God in other ways, too. Matthew 10:31 says we are worth much more than the sparrows; therefore, we should not worry about anything. If God cares about the sparrows and feeds them, then we should not worry about what we will eat or drink because we are more valuable to Him than they are.
The Bible reminds us that we are valuable to God so much so that He put humans in charge of His creation. He did not let the animals, plants, cars, food, or anything else he created care for what He made but humans. He gave people the command to rule over everything on earth including the animals, land, and plants and to fill up the earth with more people. What we do matters and is valuable to God because it shows that we care about His commands.
Prayer of the day:
Dear heavenly Father,
Thank you for creating humans in Your likeness. Without You we will have no life or a purpose. Our purpose in life is to bring You glory. We can bring You glory by how we act and treat others. You loved us so much that You sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. This action of love shows how valuable we are and how kind You are to sinners like us. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
