Is the Holy Spirit in You?
“But the Helper will teach you everything and will cause you to remember all that I told you. This Helper is the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name.”- John 14:26
The Holy Spirit is a gift from God. God gives the Spirit to His people to help guide them. The Spirit will teach them all things to help them remember what they were taught in the Scriptures about Jesus so they can apply it to their lives. Believers should start seeing changes in their actions, thoughts and behaviors after being baptized. A believer's character changes to be more like Christ. The changes that the Holy Spirit produces in their character is mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23.
The character the Spirit produces in a believer is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). These are the behaviors that show that we have the Holy Spirit in us. To learn more about the fruit of the Spirit read: “The Fruit of the Holy Spirit. Why do Believers need Them?”
It is important for Christians to have the Holy Spirit in them. Without the Spirit they cannot reflect God’s character. Whatever we do in our bodies is important too because it is the place where the Holy Spirit lives. Therefore, what we do with our bodies by how we act, treat others, and live glorifies God (1 Corinthians 6:19).
Prayer of the day:
Dear heavenly Father,
Thank you for giving us the Holy Spirit to help us draw closer to Jesus. It is Your Spirit that also helps us to be like Him, to help us love those who are hard to love, and to provide us with wisdom and knowledge. It is all by Your grace that we received the Spirit after we were baptized. He is a gift from You, that is a reason for us to praise You because of Your kindness. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
