It’s Called Common Grace
“The LORD is good to everyone; He is merciful to all He has made.” - Psalm 145:9
God is very kind and shows mercy to everyone and everything He has made. Matthew 5:45 says, “He causes the sun to rise on good people and on evil people, and He sends rain to those who do right and to those who do wrong.” This kind of action is known as common grace. God shows common grace to all people by providing them with everything they need, even to those who do not believe in Him and who have rejected Him.
God also shows grace to people by being patient with them by not wanting anyone to perish, but for all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). God purposely extends time in a person’s life so that they may have an opportunity to be saved. This again is common grace since God could easily cause death or destruction in our life because of our sins, and the payment for our sins is death (Romans 6:23).
Common grace is a free gift given to everyone. It is an amazing gift because it shows how merciful God really is and how He delights in showing people mercy. He did it throughout the Bible to others like with the sinful people in Noah’s day (Genesis 6:11-13). God waited 120 years before He sent the great flood. If He did it for them, we can then be grateful when He does it for us.
Prayer of the day:
Dear heavenly Father,
You are very merciful to everyone. You show us Your mercy every day by providing us with everything we need. You even show mercy to those who do not even believe in You and have rejected You. You are patient with us so we can change. Thank you for Your amazing grace. You are worthy to be praised. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
