No Child is too Young to Be Saved

“Then the people brought their little children to Jesus so he could put his hands on them and pray for them. His followers told them to stop, but Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to people who are like these children.’ After Jesus put his hands on the children, he left there.” -Matthew 19:13-15

Jesus does not want anyone to prevent children to come to Him. He is the way for them to receive eternal life and does not want children to miss out of this blessing. It was the case for the parents who brought their children to Jesus to be blessed. The disciples saw this as an intrusion and annoyance and rebuked the parents. Jesus intervened and told them not to hinder the children because the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.

No one is too young to be saved and Jesus wants no one to prevent children from coming to Him. Children who want to confess their faith in Jesus should be encouraged and not be held back. At the same time, children should not feel pressured into making a false profession of faith just to please their parents or others.

This passage is a good lesson for adults. Adults must be like children to inherit the kingdom of heaven. Adults need to be humble and to abandon their thoughts of personal greatness and take a low position like a child. This begins when we come to Jesus to acknowledge we are sinners in need of Him as our only hope for salvation.

Prayer of the day:

Dear heavenly Father,

You created us to have fellowship with You including children and youth. We pray that young people get the chance to know You and confess Jesus as their savior. According to Matthew 19:13-15, no child should be hindered from coming to Jesus. He is the only way to be saved. Help adults to encourage the youth to come to You and to teach them the truth about Jesus. Give adults the wisdom to do so. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen!
