Our God Who Never Changes
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” – Hebrews 13:8
Who feels the same all the time? For me, my feelings, thoughts, and health are always changing. In Texas where I live, even the weather is always changing. One day it is cold, and the next it is hot and humid. It also changes from hour to hour. It is cold and rainy in the morning and hot and sunny in the afternoon. Luckily for people, God and Jesus are not like us or the weather – They never change. They remain the same. The Bible passage in Isaiah 40:8 states it clearly,
“The grass dies and the flowers fall, but the word of our God will live forever.”
It is reassuring to know that God never changes. His promise of never changing is beneficial for us to know since it is very easy for us to be tricked or to be led astray from His truth. The promises of God and His truth remain the same no matter what, especially when the world is always changing – things like its culture, laws, people, and leaders.
When the word of God is being changed, it is important not to believe what is being said (Revelation 22:18-19). What the Bible says about the truth of God is true and can be trusted (Revelation 22:6). The true words of God that never change are used as instruction in our lives. They are used to help us know what we are doing wrong so we can correct our faults, and to teach us how to live rightly (2 Timothy 3:16).
Prayer for the day:
Dear heavenly Father,
You never change. You are unlike the world. Father, we need Your help, so we won’t be led astray. Your words that never change are true and can be trusted. Thank you for helping us to recognize our faults so we can correct them. It is all possible for us to do because of Your grace and unfailing love. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
