Peace in Christ is What We Need
“Let the peace that Christ gives control your thinking, because you were all called together in one body to have peace. Always be thankful.” – Colossians 3:15
When was the last time you felt peace? It is difficult to feel peace at times especially when there is no security in this world. Our circumstances are always changing like the loss of a job, death of a family member, having a new baby or someone breaking into our home. The great and comforting news is that the peace we feel can only come from Christ since His peace comes from above and cannot be taken away from a believer. The Holy Spirit provides us with peace to help us overcome whatever happens (Galatians 5:22-23).
Jesus said that in this world Christians will face hatred, be falsely condemned, or persecuted for our faith, but we can turn to Him for peace. He put an end to the world’s power by His death (John 16:33). Even if we have to experience troubles, the Holy Spirit in us will give us strength, wisdom, peace and so much more… (Galatians 5:22-23)
Here are some other Bible passages to turn to when we are anxious, fearful or stressed to help us feel peace:
“I leave you peace; my peace I give you. I do not give it to you as the world does. So don’t let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” – John 14:27
“Where God’s love is, there is no fear, because God’s perfect love drives out fear. It is punishment that makes a person fear, so love is not made perfect in the person who fears.” – 1 John 4:18
“Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks. And God’s peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
Prayer of the day:
Dear heavenly Father,
You give perfect peace. We cannot have perfect peace without You. Please Holy Spirit help us to feel the presence of our Lord Jesus because He is our first and most secure source of peace, especially when the world is against us. We need Your power to overcome our fear, our addictions, or whatever we are going through. Let us give You all the honor, praise and glory today. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
