Repent, God Promises to Forgive
But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done. - 1 John 1:9
When we do something that God says is unholy or wrong like Paul describes in Galatians 5:19-21:
"The wrong things the sinful self does are clear: being sexually unfaithful, not being pure, taking part in sexual sins, worshiping gods, doing witchcraft, hating, making trouble, being jealous, being angry, being selfish, making people angry with each other, causing divisions among people, feeling envy, being drunk, having wild and wasteful parties, and doing other things like these."
God wants us to repent. Repentance involves being sorry for what we have done and turning away from sin. God is very merciful and promises to forgive us if we humbly confess our sins and believe in our hearts that we need a savior. Our savior is Jesus Christ. Jesus and repentance are the only way to make us right with God. If we do not repent, we will remain God’s enemies and be separated from Him. Being separated means we won’t be able to be with God in heaven after we die and He will not be with us while we are here on earth. Repent now, it is not too late if we are still alive.
Prayer of the day:
Dear heavenly Father,
If we confess our sins to You, You are faithful to forgive us. We are sinners in need of Your mercy and grace. Please continue to help us repent and turn away from sin, so we can have a relationship with You. We do not want to be separated from You because it leads to death. Jesus is the only way for us to be right with You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!
