The People Jesus Never Knew
“Not all those who say ‘You are our Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven. The only people who will enter the kingdom of heaven are those who do what my Father in heaven wants. On the last day many people will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, we spoke for you, and through you we forced out demons and did many miracles.’ Then I will tell them clearly, ‘Get away from me, you who do evil. I never knew you.’” -Matthew 7:21-23
There are people who falsely profess Jesus as savior that have never been converted. These people will use the name of Jesus to cast out demons, do miracles, or claim God gave them a special revelation that is not written in the Bible. Do not let these people fool you. They are not from God but are from Satan. Satan may empower people to do the same miracles as the true prophets from the Scriptures that were sent by God.
The evil doers won’t be able to fool Jesus. On judgment day they too will have to stand before Jesus. They will say to Jesus, “Lord, Lord, we spoke for you, and through you we forced out demons and did many miracles.” These evil people won’t be saved, and Jesus will tell them to get away from Him and that He never knew them. That is very hard to comprehend but it is true.
The people who do the will of God will be able to enter the Kingdom of heaven. To do the will of God involves believing in Jesus Christ as the savior of the world (John 6:29). When someone says that Jesus is not the savior or was just a prophet or He is not the Son of God then they are not from God.
This is a reminder that on judgment day we do not want Jesus to say that He never knew us. If He does, we will be separated from Him forever and will be sent to hell (Matthew 25:32-33, Revelation 20:12-15).
Prayer of the day:
Dear heavenly Father,
The Bible verses in Matthew are hard to understand. We are depending on You for help to know who the evil people are and who are from God. We do not want Jesus to tell us that He never knew us. If that happens then we are doomed to hell forever and will be separated from You. There are no second chances. We want to do Your will and not Satan’s. Please help to guide us in the right direction. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
