What’s in the Bible, Stays in the Bible
“I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.”- Revelation 22:18-19
The apostle John wrote in Revelation 22:18-19 what will happen to anyone who adds or takes away what is written in the books of the Bible (Deuteronomy 4:2). It is a warning that needs to be taken seriously. If a person does there are serious consequences. They will be punished as described in the scrolls that are mentioned in Revelation 16:1-21. They will be doomed and never share in the blessing of those who have eternal life.
God does not want anyone to tamper with His words. There have been religious people who claimed to have a special revelation from God and have added new books and information to the Bible. That is wrong and these people are not from God. They are from Satan trying to mislead people. They will lie to get what they want. God is warning people ahead of time so they can be ready and stand firm against it.
According to 2 Peter 1:20-21, “No prophecy in the Scriptures ever comes from the prophet’s own interpretation or ever came from what a person wanted to say, but people led by the Holy Spirit spoke words from God.” Therefore, His words can be trusted and are true (Revelation 22:6).
Prayer of the day:
Dear heavenly Father,
Your words in the Scriptures can be trusted. We do not want to change anything about Your holy word. Your words are precious and are true. You do not want to lie or trick us but want to warn us about false teachers that are out there. Help us to recognize them and to be ready to stand firm on the truth of Your word. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
