When God’s Truths are Changed with Lies
“They knew God, but they did not give glory to God or thank him. Their thinking became useless. Their foolish minds were filled with darkness. They said they were wise, but they became fools. They traded the glory of God who lives forever for the worship of idols made to look like earthly people, birds, animals, and snakes. Because they did these things, God left them and let them go their sinful way, wanting only to do evil. As a result, they became full of sexual sin, using their bodies wrongly with each other. They traded the truth of God for a lie. They worshiped and served what had been created instead of the God who created those things, who should be praised forever. Amen.” – Romans 1:21-25
When the world changes what the Bible says to conform it to the world’s desire then it is replacing God’s truths with lies. There are consequences when the world does this. God allows those of the world to believe what they want to believe even if it contradicts His truths. As a result, their way of thinking biblically is changed to believe what they want. They believe it is okay to do what they want to do sexually because they think it is love, and love is okay with God since God is love. How can a loving God not be okay with loving others even when the Bible clearly states that not all love is okay with God?
When this happens, a person’s way of thinking and mind are filled with darkness and they become fools in God’s sight. They become fools because they choose to reject God’s truths and lose their capacity to see God’s holy ways or give Him any glory. A consequence of it may be that God will allow the person to continue to live the way they want to (Romans 1:24). God is not abandoning them, but they are choosing to abandon His laws and rules and replace them with lies and to do sinful things that God says are wrong to do.
Romans 1:21-27 is referring to the ungodly practice of same sex relationships. God allows some to continue to practice this kind of lifestyle since they do not want to listen to God and want to live the way they want. Look at what Romans 1:26-27 says:
“Because people did those things, God left them and let them do the shameful things they wanted to do. Women stopped having natural sex and started having sex with other women. In the same way, men stopped having natural sex and began wanting each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and in their bodies, they received the punishment for those wrongs.”
The good news is that God set laws and rules in place that are mentioned in the Bible to help a person prosper and grow spiritually closer to Him. God is the creator of everything in the universe and as our creator He desires for us to draw closer to Him by obeying and listening to what is written in the Bible since it ultimately points people towards the need for a Savior (Matthew 5:17-18).

Dear heavenly Father,
Your words in the Bible can be trusted and are true. Please help us know about Your truths and believe them even if the world does not. Give us the courage to stand up for the truths that You had Your apostles write years ago. Your word in the Bible is there to help Your people know Jesus and how His obedience and death set us free from sin and death. This is the real reason why we want to follow Your laws and rules. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
