When Life Gets Tough
“Come to me, all of you who are tired and have heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Accept my teachings and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit, and you will find rest for your lives.” – Matthew 11:28-29
Life can get tough. During tough times, we have Jesus to turn to, a high priest who cares and will be with us. Jesus reminds us in John 16:33 that in this world we will have trouble, but He has overcome the world. So, if we are stressed, overworked, or bothered by something, we can come to Him with our needs. All we need to do is go to Him humbly in prayer, and trust and believe that He will help.
If we humbly go to God in prayer and admit that we need help, He is willing to help (2 Thessalonians 3:3). We can trust Him to do what is right even if we have to wait for His response to our plea. Prayer is a powerful tool to help communicate to God what we need. Prayer has the power to change our circumstances. James 5:16 says, “when a believing person prays, great things happen.”
Confessing that we need help from God is not always easy because of sin. It is a challenge due to pride, fear or doubt. However, God is willing to listen to a humble person that is righteous rather than to a prideful person since He hates pride (Proverbs 15:29, Proverbs 8:13).
When life gets tough, here is another Bible verse to turn to for comfort in our time of need:
“So don’t worry, because I am with you. Don’t be afraid, because I am your God. I will make you strong and will help you; I will support you with my right hand that saves you.” – Isaiah 41:10
Prayer of the day:
Dear Father,
You are the source of comfort in our time of need. We need Your help when trouble comes. It is the case because Jesus said that in this world there will be trouble, but we can depend on Him for what we need. He is our high priest who cares and will guide us through times of hardships. Thank you for Your help and praise You for it. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!
