When We Seek God
“Then you will call My name. You will come to Me and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will search for Me. And when you search for Me with all your heart, you will find Me!” - Jeremiah 29:12-13
God does not force us to go to Him when we need something but wants us to willingly seek Him and ask. We do this through prayer and telling Him what we need and what is on our hearts. When we seek Him in a believing and desperate way, then He will draw near to us. We have the tendency to think God would be far from us because of pride and our sinful hearts, but when we humbly seek God, He promises to listen, forgive, and restore us.
When we seek God, it shows that we really want and need His help and are not being too prideful to ask for it. Pride is a big problem that keeps us from seeking God because we either love sin and want to continue doing what we want, or think we are strong enough to handle life’s problems on our own. It takes a lot of humility as humans to ask for help because no one wants to feel weak, helpless, or to be dependent on others.
On the other hand, when we seek and ask God for help, it shows we are weak and cannot do anything without Him. The truth is that we cannot (Philippians 4:6-7). God already knows what we need before we ask (Matthew 6:8). But He wants us to ask anyway. What a relief to know that God provides us with that kind of peace and comfort. So, we cannot get that kind of help anywhere else than in God.
Prayer of the day:
Dear heavenly Father,
When we seek You, You are there for us. You want us to seek You to show that we really need Your help. We cannot do certain things without You. Help us to be humble enough to go to You in prayer. Prayer is very important for us to stay in communication with You, so we can experience Your everlasting peace and comfort. In Jesus’ name we prayer, Amen!
